Nokia/Brigde-IT MoU

The MoU was signed earlier this morning by IYF, Pearson and Nokia. Due to a breakdown in communications last week, we did not get the revised and final MoU from Nokia until this morning. Since we had to a) clear this with UNDP legal and b) get permission from BRSP to allow the RR to sign in our behalf, we could not sign the MoU this morning in Manila.

I have forwarded the latest version to legal and expect to get Shoji to sign this when he returns from his current mission.

Meeting with RR Philippines – Nokia partnership

Yesterday I met with Terence Jones, RR PH, to discuss the Nokia partnership. Some joint concerns put on the table included: a) MoU signature vis-a-vis UNDP’s rules and regs and long term implications; UNDP needs to be flexible but to a point; b) role of UNDP supported Documentator as critical to assess the partnership on the ground and make specific recommendations for potential global programme; c) role of Pearson as the unqiue content provided this far and need to include others including national and regional providers; d) recruitment of the documentator and funding provided by HQ.

He also inquire about other ICT programmes as well as NetAid.
